to write an AU where Sam goes to sleep after prom, all sad for Kurt and about his family’s monetary problems and about how everyone forgot his birthday, just wishing he could go back to simpler times
and then he wakes up but it’s the beginning of the school year again, and somehow nobody at McKinley seems to know him and he’s a bit confused but he’s a dork so he knows about time travel so he adapts
and this time he sings the duet with Kurt and help him deal with Burt’s illness and the Karofsky situation because they’ve become friends in the future-past and he’s just so thankful to Kurt and anyway he loves to spend time with him
and Kurt never goes to Dalton and is never discouraged and he keeps flirting with Sam and Sam is all confused because he has long since convinced himself Kurt wasn’t flirting in the shower scene, and well Kurt is meant to be with Blaine, right? And he himself should jump at the chance to get a second chance with Quinn, or a first one with Mercedes, right? Except Kurt’s flirting gives him weird butterflies in his stomach and stuff and suddenly he’s gladder than ever for this second chance
